Fraser Brewery Tour

UniverCity at SFU is set within a world-class university with all of the conveniences of campus life right at the doorstep of Fraser. With Nesters Market just around the corner, Burnaby Mountain as a backyard and quick access to transit, there’s so much to love here. One thing we especially love at Fraser by Mosaic, is the proximity to some of the best food and brew spots in the city.

If you love a good brew, we’ve put together a list of our favourite breweries that are in quick access when living at Fraser.

Start at Dageraad Brewing

Dageraad Brewing is named after the Dageraadplaats, a neighbourhood square on the side of Antwerp, Belgium. The owners have transported the beer culture from Belgium and brought it to Burnaby Mountain, with the goal of bringing the flavour and the style of Belgian brewed beer to Vancouver.

Dageraad Brewing is SFU’s go-to brewery offering up small-batch and artisan Belgian style beers. A few of our favourites are the Belgian white or blonde, just to name a few.

Dageraad Brewing is a five-minute walk from Production Way Skytrain station and offers brewery and tasting tours from 12-8PM daily.

Quick transit to Port Moody’s Brewery Row

The great thing about living at Fraser by Mosaic is the quick access to rapid transit to take you anywhere you need to go. To get to your next hub of breweries and to continue your tour, take the Millennium Line to get to the Evergreen Line and get off at Moody Centre Station to explore Brewery Row.

Visit Moody Ales

Opened in 2014, Moody Ales is a great starting point to your tour along Brewery Row.  As its name implies, this brewery focuses on ales of all types. Moody Ales has a large, welcoming tasting room and an awesome patio.

When building their brewery they wanted to make sure they had a place to provide the community somewhere comfortable and relaxing to enjoy their beers. Throughout the seasons Moody Ales brews small batch beers that you can only get in their lounge, making them one of a kind.

With at least fourteen beers on tap for you to choose from along with wine, ciders and locally sourced food it is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.

We love that you can bring your favourite brew home in their refillable growler. We recommend trying out some of their flagship beers which happen to be some of the best in British Columbia.

Try some award-winning beers at Yellow Dog Brewing

One of the original breweries to open on Murray Street, Yellow Dog Brewing is a family-run brewery focused on producing high quality locally crafted beer for everyone to enjoy.

Fun fact, Yellow Dog’s “Shake A Paw Smoked Porter” was named 2014 Beer of the Year at the BC Beer Awards. Since then, the brewery has also won silver medals at the Canadian Brewing Awards for its “Sit and Stay Belgian ISA” and its “Go Fetch West Coast Hoppy Saison”.

In addition to their growler station at the front the brewery, they recently opened a tasting room where you can stop in with the whole family, making for a great night out.

Twin Sails Brewing

Right next door to Yellow Dog, Twin Sails Brewing opened in 2015 by two brothers. The brewery originally opened with a focus on German beers such as hefeweizen, gose and pilsner but more recently they’ve been producing cutting-edge hazy IPAs and other unique beers.

What sticks out about Twin Sales Brewing are their names; grab a can of “You Gonna Eat That” or a pint of “High Socks”. You can also catch many of their stock on taps all around British Columbia, but nothing tastes better then when coming directly from the source.

Each brewery is looking to make a more cohesive and vibrant community in Burnaby. Make a day trip out of wandering down brewers row and explore what your future new community at Fraser has to offer. Fraser will be available soon and will offer 1 & 2 bedroom apartments and townhomes to purchase.
